چکیده

We investigate the relationship between the Lyapunov exponents of periodic trajectories, the average and fluctuations of Lyapunov exponents of ergodic trajectories, and the ergodic autocorrelation time for the two-dimensional hyperbola billiard. We then study the fluctuation properties of the ergodic Lyapunov spectrum of classical SU(2) gauge theory on a lattice. Our results are consistent with the notion that this system is globally hyperbolic. Among the many powerful theorems applicable to such systems, we discuss one relating to the fluctuations in the entropy growth rate. Typeset using REVTEX 1

Study of Chaos and Scaling in Classical SU(2) Gauge Theory

Following a recent suggestion by Nielsen, Rugh, and Rugh, we study the energy scaling of the maximal Lyapunov exponent of classical Hamiltonian SU(2) lattice gauge theory. It is shown that the conjectured scaling behavior λ0 ∼ E1/4 at small energies on the lattice is a finite-time artifact. New numerical results for the maximal Lyapunov exponent are presented for lattices up to size 20 and over...

On the lattice construction of electroweak gauge theory

Based on the Ginsparg-Wilson relation, a gauge invariant formulation of electroweak SU(2)×U(1) gauge theory on the lattice is considered. If the hypercharge gauge coupling is turned off in the vacuum sector of the U(1) gauge fields, the theory consists of four left-handed SU(2) doublets and it is possible, as in vector-like theories, to make the fermion measure defined globally in all topologic...

We reformulate the Hamiltonian approach to lattice gauge theories such that, at the classical level, the gauge group does not act canonically, but instead as a Poisson-Lie group. At the quantum level, it then gets promoted to a quantum group gauge symmetry. The theory depends on two parameters-the deformation parameter and the lattice spacing a. We show that the system of Kogut and Susskind is ...

Chaos Driven by Soft-Hard Mode Coupling in Thermal Yang-Mills Theory

We argue on a basis of a simple few mode model of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory that the color off-diagonal coupling of the soft plasmon to hard thermal excitations of the gauge field drives the collective plasma oscillations into chaotic motion despite the presence of the plasmon mass. On the influence of colour magnetic currents on the confining properties of SU(3) lattice gauge theory

We modify the standard Wilson action of SU(3) lattice gauge theory by adding an extra term which suppresses colour magnetic currents. We present numerical results of simulations at zero and finite temperature and show that colour magnetic currents strongly influence the confining properties of SU(3) lattice gauge theory.
